Clinical Supervision for Therapists in Washington State

Supervision Rooted in Systemic, Trauma Informed, Sensory Aware, Person-Centered and Neurodiversity Affirming Care

My name is Jessamy Whitsitt and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Registered Play Therapist, and a certified AutPlay® Therapist. In addition to my clinical work with children, teens, adults, and families, I offer clinical supervision for therapists and associates across Washington State. My supervision style aligns with the way I practice therapy. It is grounded in systemic thinking, neurobiologically informed principles, sensory awareness, person-centered, trauma informed and an anti-oppressive lens. I believe therapists also need a space to feel heard, understood, supported, and encouraged as they grow into their professional identity.

My Approach to Supervision

At my core, I believe that relationships are where change happens, and supervision is no different. I think of the supervisory relationship much like the partnership between mushrooms and trees connected through a mycorrhizal network. In the forest, fungi quietly support the tree’s growth beneath the surface, offering nutrients, connection, and resilience, while the tree offers its own energy in return. Supervision mirrors this kind of symbiotic, nourishing relationship. I see myself as part of that supportive network, offering guidance, reflection, and professional nourishment that strengthens your roots so your clinical work can continue to thrive above the surface.

In our work together, I offer a collaborative and reflective environment where you can ask questions, explore uncertainty, deepen your clinical skills, and grow your confidence. I draw from evidence based and neurobiologically informed systemic frameworks that help us understand how behavior, communication, and emotional expression are shaped by nervous system responses, sensory needs, identity, and the larger contexts we all move through.

Supervision is a space to feel supported, resourced, and grounded as you grow into the therapist you are becoming. Like the relationships within a healthy forest, our work is reciprocal, relational, and rooted in the belief that none of us grows alone.

• systemic case conceptualization and neurobiologically informed practice
• sensory needs, communication styles, and diverse processing patterns
• developmentally appropriate and play-based interventions
• caregiver collaboration, ethics, and therapeutic use of self
• private practice foundations including workflow, boundaries, and sustainability
• developing your voice through marketing, networking, and identifying your ideal clients

Supervision with me is a blend of support, curiosity, reflection, and clear guidance. We will explore the parts of being a therapist that happen both inside and outside the therapy room so you can build a clinical identity and a career that feel aligned, sustainable, and authentic to you.

Supporting Neurodivergent Therapists and Neurodivergent Clients

I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent children, teens, and adults. Many adults come to therapy after being diagnosed later in life or while exploring whether they may be autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or otherwise neurodivergent. I support supervisees in understanding masking, burnout, sensory differences, executive functioning strains, and how identity development shifts once someone realizes their brain works differently than they were led to believe.

I also welcome neurodivergent therapists into supervision. If you are an ADHD-er, autistic, AuDHD, sensory sensitive, a pattern thinker, a slow processor, or someone who communicates in a unique way, you do not need to mask here. We can work together in ways that honor your natural communication style and sensory needs.

Child, Teen, and Family Therapy Supervision

Much of my clinical work is with children ages birth through twelve, teens, and their families. If you are a child or family therapist, I can support you with
• developmentally appropriate interventions
• parent coaching and caregiver collaboration
• understanding the child’s inner world through play
• systemic dynamics within families
• sensory needs and regulation
• supporting neurodivergent kids in neurotypical spaces
• navigating school systems and multidisciplinary care

Working with children means working with parents, siblings, teachers, and other systems. I help supervisees build confidence in communicating with caregivers, offering feedback, providing guidance, and maintaining strong, healthy boundaries.

Business Support and Building Your Private Practice

I am not afraid to talk about the business side of therapy. Many supervisees feel unsure about how to start or grow a private pay practice, how to market themselves authentically, or how to identify their ideal client. Together we can talk about
• building a private pay practice from the ground up
• branding, messaging, and developing your voice
• marketing strategies that feel natural and values aligned
• balancing agency work with part time private practice
• making a sustainable plan to transition out of community mental health
• time management, boundaries, and workflow
• financial realities and building a practice that truly works for you

Let’s face it, clinicians are often not taught how to run a business, yet it is a crucial part of creating a career that is financially and emotionally sustainable. I enjoy helping therapists create practices that reflect who they are and who they want to serve.
